Lands Manager

Michael is the Lands  Manager for Sq’ewá:lxw First Nation. He joined Sq’ewá:lxw after 7 years working with Stó:lō Service Agency Health.  He has also worked with the Fraser Region Aboriginal Planning Committee/Interim Authority, the Aboriginal Children and Families Chiefs’ Coalition, the First Nations Child and Family Wellness Council, and the BC Assembly of First Nations over the past 20 years.

In his role at Sq’ewá:lxw, Michael will oversee the various aspects and issues affecting Sq’ewá:lxw First Nation lands.  Michael’s role also includes being the Designated Band Representative as well as the Designated Health Representative for Sq’ewá:lxw.

Michael is a longtime resident in Coast Salish territory and currently lives in Chilliwack where he can often be found walking his dog around the Promontory hills or sitting on his back porch enjoying the view. Michael considers himself blessed each day to live in such a beautiful environment and often thinks about what it must have been like before contact and how important it is to look after what is here for future generations.
